Phyusin Myint, PhD is a dedicated public servant, scholar, and health equity leader in the Oregon Public Health community. Dr. Myint is the Chief Equity Diversity and Inclusion Officer at Health Share of Oregon, serving over 440 thousand Oregonians in the Portland Metro region. Myint has been with the Oregon Public Health Association (OPHA)’s Executive Board for over five years- serving currently as the Immediate Past President of OPHA. When our State had its first case of COVID-19 in Washington County, Myint served as the first Equity Officer in the Emergency Operations Center for Washington County, leading the charge to build an infrastructure to embed equity and community voice in the emergency response effort.
Centering on her family’s experience as displaced Burmese immigrants and her upbringing navigating health and governmental systems as a woman of color, she is steadfast in advancing health equity for all Oregonians. She is committed to building partnerships that identify opportunities for system and policy changes, where everyone in the community has what they need to thrive- the agency to shape the policies and systems that impact their lives. When she is not busy with work or academic research, she loves exploring the Pacific Northwest with her two children and partner and writing poetry for social change.
